If you’ve got room temperature beer or wine you need chilling in a hurry. The quickest way to do it at home is to put as much ice as you can into a container that will fit both the ice and the bottles you want cooled.
Then fill another container with about 1/3 the amount of water as you have of ice. Mix in quite a bit of salt (about ½ cup per litre).
Put the bottles into the ice and then pour the salt water over as much of the ice as you can.
This will supercool the bottles faster than water and ice alone. And about twice as fast as the freezer. Yeah, science!
